TIME came out with its annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world for 2013. Among them: US President Barack Obama; US First Lady Michelle Obama; New Jersey Governor Chris Christie; Kentucky Senator Rand Paul; Pope Francis; Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge; Malala Yousafzai, the 15-year girl who survived a Taliban attack; Miami Heat’s small forward LeBron James; the music industry’s power couple Jay-Z and Beyonce; and Yahoo’s CEO Marissa Mayer.
The list featurse people “who inspire us, entertain us, challenge us, and change our world,” though not always in a positive way. Among the more notorious people who made it to the list is North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un, who makes his second year of appearance in a row.
The list was started in 1999 and features people from all walks of life, “from artists and leaders to pioneers, titans and icons.”
