Ship industry leader Carnival has canceled at least twelve sailings on two ships. This is to make some modifications to the marine vessels’ power and systems for fire suppression. Disclosed late Tuesday, the changes to the Carnival Triumph and Carnival Sunshine come as the line evaluates fire safety systems and engine severances across its fleet.
Both ships are already in the yard for repair. The company is making important investments to improve the level of operations and the scope of hotel services that can run on emergency power, and further improve the fire prevention, detection, and suppression systems of each ship.
The Carnival Triumph is already in the middle of a nine-week refurbishment that started after the February fire that led to the cancellation of 14 trips. The Carnival Sunshine, on the other hand, is in the middle of a long-planned renovation that is also to last for seven weeks.
